The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the royal breed that has been born again from its origins in the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries. These little lap dogs ran around the finest European castles and were tremendously popular with English royalty. Once called the "Comfort Spaniel of the 1700's", doctors often prescribed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels as bed warmers for the rich and ailing upper class and as warming carriage ride companions.
